Transportbetons MB Modernises Its Valmiera Plant and invests in fleet renewal

This year, a total of around EUR 450 thousand has been invested in the UPB Group company Transportbetons MB, with the main investments being made in the modernisation of the Valmiera production plant and the renewal of the company’s specialised vehicle fleet.

 

The Valmiera ready-mixed concrete plant has undergone a complete reconstruction of the concrete unit and modernisation of the control system. “In our case, the reconstruction can be likened to the installation of a practically new production plant. The aim was to make our daily work more efficient and productive, and to improve the production process. We will have more opportunities to work with, for example, coloured concrete, which is becoming more and more in demand,” explains Jānis Mētra, head of Transportbetons MB.

 

The modernisation of the Valmiera plant will also improve working conditions and safety, and it is planned to improve the surrounding area in the future.

 

“We are the largest ready-mixed concrete network in Latvia and have a good sense of market trends – demand for special types of concrete designed, for example, for bridge construction or aggressive environments is increasing every year. Similarly, builders increasingly appreciate our ability to mobilise several plants at the same time for responsible casting, which reduces concrete placement times and provides additional security in form of more precise deliveries. That is why we are purposefully investing in both production technology and fleet renewal in order to be able to work steadily on complex and intensive projects,” adds J. Mētra.

 

This is the fourth modernised ready-mixed concrete plant in recent years, and the complex process has been carried out entirely by the UPB Group’s technical department. During the reconstruction, concrete deliveries to customers in the region did not have to be interrupted - this was ensured by a mobile production plant that was relocated to Valmiera for the time being.

 

Transportbetons MB currently has a fleet of around 60 units of specialised machinery servicing a network of 11 production sites throughout Latvia and also in Sweden.
